This is not your regular tale of capes, overly toned bodies, and an ugly villain.
This is real life…
Heroes are ordinary people who choose to make themselves extraordinary. At Plentywaka, our drivers become Heroes and this is the spectacular story of Zion Gbolahun.
How it started
In September 2019, Zion was one of the many drivers who heard about the revolutionary app that would change public transportation for good. He was a young man with big dreams who was ready to work and earn a decent living. As he received the keys to a brand new 12-seater bus on launch day, little did he know that he was receiving a superpower!
How it is going
Today, Zion drives a huge 31-seater coaster bus and plays a major role in saving lives.
With the letter P on his chest and an imaginary cape, he grabs the wheel and sets out by 5:00 AM from Iyana-Oworo, just as thousands of Lagosians troop out in search of their daily bread. Zion not only helps people move better, feel better and live better, but he also helps to get 31 private vehicles off the road for that day
What does this mean?
It simply means that when people choose to move with Zion’s bus, there are fewer cars on the road causing traffic and increasing commute time and this automatically reduces individual stress levels.
That’s a lifesaving act right there!
As he works tirelessly from dawn to dusk, Zion also saves the planet.
You may have heard that vehicle exhaust fumes pose a health risk. This is very true. Carbon-fuelled engine fumes contain carbon monoxide which is a poisonous gas. Prolonged exposure to these fumes, especially blue or black smoke, may lead to serious health complications. With the 31 comfortable seats in his bus, Zion helps to take 31 private cars with these poisonous exhaust fumes off the road.
We think saving the environment is a pretty heroic act!
The Growth
Zion has been a hard-working hero (driver) on Plentywaka for 23 months winning multiple awards like “Best Driver” and “Most Enterprising Driver”. He has grown from a Hero into a Superhero by being an exemplary leader who exhibits our core values which include integrity, hard work, speed, having fun, and people-smartness.
He not only earns money to cater to his loved ones through his salary, but he has also been able to create a path to financial freedom through earnings from our merchant booking app. With his savings, Zion has purchased his own buses and started a logistics business.
If you spot Zion anywhere, give him the highest of fives on our behalf. He deserves it and we are so proud of him!
P.S. Just in case you are curious about “Chidinma” which is boldly written on his new bus above, that’s a love story for another day. Chidinma is the vehicle assistant who stole Zion’s heart.
