The last 24 hours have been ecstatic for us at Treepz as the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy in Nigeria, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim, popularly known as Pantami, visited our HQ in Lagos.
Since our launch in September 2019, Treepz has grown from being Nigeria’s first bus hailing app to serving a customer base of over 100,000+ users, with 130,000+ downloads on the mobile app and achieving a milestone of 800,000+ rides in just over 2 years using mercurial technology.
Sharing our journey with the minister was an eye-opening experience for him and his entourage who were quite impressed with our operating model. He quickly reiterated the government’s willingness to collaborate with disruptive ideas like ours to help boost Nigeria’s digital economy. “Treepz can be a key player in Nigeria’s digital economy,” said Pantami on Tuesday, 22nd February 2022.
Barely into the year, African startups have already raised over 1 billion dollars in 130 deals with Nigeria among the top 4 countries leading the charge. It is indeed an honour to be recognized by the minister, for solving the complexities of public transportation for not just Nigerians, but Africa.
